$40 million biscuit factory nears completion

CONSTRUCTION works on the new FMF Foods Ltd biscuit factory along the Queens highway in Veisari is expected to be completed soon.

FMF Foods managing director Ram Bajekal said as the factory neared completion, the machines would also get installed therein.

"We expect the project to be completed towards the middle to end of March," he said.

"Production trials will commence soon as the machines are installed."

The new factory, an investment valued at more than $40 million, will supplement the group's biscuit manufacturing capacity for export.

Mr Bajekal said their current target market was the Melanesian markets and were also looking at boosting the Australia and New Zealand market.

It will be operated by Bakery Company (Fiji) Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of FMF Foods.
